Quality Control for Ductile Iron Manhole Covers and Drainage Products

Ductile iron manhole cover quality control for export projects, including gully gratings, drainage covers and custom casting products.

01

Material Check

We verify every batch of raw material before casting starts. Spectral analysis confirms chemical composition for ductile iron grades such as GGG50 and GGG40, while standard drainage products can be checked against GG20 or project specifications. Nonconforming material is not released to production, and material certificates can be provided before shipment.

02

Dimension Inspection

After casting and machining, each product is measured against the approved drawing. We check frame size, clear opening, seating depth, cover thickness, hinge alignment and frame clearance. Standard products are controlled within tight project tolerances, and OEM orders are checked against the confirmed drawings before approval.

03

Load Class Consideration

Hongke Global supplies ductile iron covers across EN124 classes from A15 to F900. For road and highway projects, D400 is one of the most common specifications. Representative samples can go through hydraulic press load testing, and load test reports can be supplied when required.

04

Surface & Final Inspection

Before packing, every product goes through visual, dimensional and coating checks. Standard black bituminous coating, epoxy coating or hot-dip galvanizing can be arranged according to project requirements. Pre-shipment photos, packing lists, material certificates and dimension reports can be prepared for export orders.

Certificates & Inspection Documents

Unlike unverified foundries, Hongke Global strictly enforces metallurgical traceability. Below is our directory of verified factory credentials.

Ductile Iron Manhole Cover Quality Control Before Shipment

When you are sourcing ductile iron manhole covers or drainage products for an overseas project, quality is not just about how the product looks in a photo. It is about whether the cover fits the frame on site, handles the load it is designed for, and arrives in a condition your team can actually work with.

This is why ductile iron manhole cover quality control matters before production, packing and shipment.

Material and Casting Inspection

Good products start with the right material. Before production moves forward, we verify raw material against project or product specifications. During ductile iron casting inspection, we also check casting appearance, edge condition and surface consistency before surface treatment.

Dimension, Frame Fit and Load Class

A cover that looks fine but does not sit properly in its frame can cause noise, movement and callbacks after installation. We check clear opening, frame size, total depth and seating area according to drawings or project requirements.

For EN124 manhole cover inspection, we also review the required load class against the installation environment. B125 is commonly used for pedestrian areas, C250 for kerbside and parking areas, and D400 for carriageways, roads and heavier traffic locations.

Surface Treatment and Final Check

Surface finish matters, both for long-term use and for how the product looks when it arrives on site. Depending on project requirement, we can work with black bitumen coating, epoxy coating, painting or hot-dip galvanizing.

Before the products are packed, we check surface coverage, coating condition, anti-slip pattern, logo marking and frame matching. These details are especially important for buyers who need consistent product presentation across a larger project.

Packaging for Export

Final inspection and export packaging

Cast iron and ductile iron products are heavy. If the packaging is not suitable for ocean freight, products can arrive damaged, and that creates problems for both the buyer and the project site.

We check pallet condition, stacking method, surface protection and labels before loading. Pre-shipment photos can be provided before the container is sealed, so you can see what is being shipped.

What to Look for in a Manhole Cover Test Report

A useful report should match the actual product ordered. Product type, material grade, load class, test method, dimensions, batch reference and inspection date should all align with the project documents.
